UPDATE 5/20: The Opera has announced that the performance originally scheduled for Saturday, May 21 at 10 a.m. has been cancelled.
With public performances presented since 1950, the Toledo Opera now reaches 30,000 people each year, through educational programs, community outreach activities and stage performances, providing an enjoyable and enriching experience for the people of Toledo.
Opera is back with weekly performances at the Toledo Botanical Garden and Toledo Farmers Market, running a series with the Opera Outdoors program.
The first three performances took place on May 4, 11 and 14. Other performances will take place on the following dates:
Wednesday May 18 Toledo Botanical Garden 6 p.m.
Wednesday May 24 Toledo Botanical Garden 6 p.m.
Featuring exceptional performers Grace Wipfli (soprano), Katherine Kincaid (mezzo soprano), Andrew Payne (baritone) Fran Daniel Lauceria (tenor), Andrew Payne (baritone) and Mercy Olson (pianist), they are resident artists living in Toledo and work with the Opera for a year, selected from an international pool of 150 candidates.
“We are pleased to once again welcome the Toledo Opera as part of our lineup of live shows in Metroparks this season. One of the great things about parks is that they bring nature, arts and people together to create something truly special,” said Matt Killam, Outreach Director for Metroparks Toledo.
Weather can affect events, so interested attendees should look for cancellations. All outdoor shows are free and open to the community.
