The Shropshire Musical Theater Company to Host Auditions for Calendar Girls the Musical

Open auditions will be held next month to join multi-award-winning Shropshire Musical Theater company Get Your Wigle On as they stage the musical Calendar Girls.

Get Your Wigle On regularly presents large-scale productions at Theater Severn, with past productions such as Shrek, Grease and Sister Act. The local high-energy performance group produces six to eight musicals a year with a fun and friendly approach to rehearsals in their studio in the heart of Shrewsbury town center.

January 2022 sees the musical adaptation of the film take the stage at Theater Severn. Get Your Wigle We are looking for Shropshire artists aged 21 and over to join them with lead roles and fantastic places in the business. This show had a lot of roles for men and women 35+ and the company is looking for singers and actors to join the team.

The true story of the Calendar Girls launched a worldwide phenomenon, a million copycat calendars, a record movie, a play and a musical written by Tim Firth and Gary Barlow who coined the term “caughing” – the act to cry and laugh at the same time.

Amy Tennant, 32 from Shrewsbury, has been a member of Get Your Wigle On for four years after moving to the area. She says: “Get Your Wigle I have been provided with amazing experiences, fabulous friends and memories that I will cherish all my life. Having been so stuck inside for the past twelve months, I can’t wait to return in the rehearsal room and get back on stage! ‘

There are plenty of lead roles, backing vocals and ensemble members to choose from in the upcoming auditions on June 16 at The Get Your Wigle On studio.
