The Reading Studio of Dramatic Art will leap like lords this evening (Friday) to the staging of the new work 12 Days of Christmas.
This inaugural Christmas production by the Reading Studio of Dramatic Art – a partnership between Reading Rep and Reading College – is inspired by popular festive song.
The 12 Days of Christmas song dates back to the 1700s, when Catholicism was banned in England.
Each day of the original song, according to some, could represent a teaching of the Catholic Church.
The play, directed by Christie O’Carroll, Associate Director of Reading Rep, who recently joined the Lyceum Theater Company in Edinburgh, said: “We have decided that, like today, we are all free to practice whatever. whatever our belief, we had to come up with a 2015 version, showing what we find important at Christmas, what we look forward to and what we need to remember.
“We used these ideas to create a whole new unique production, which is Reading Studio’s very first Christmas show.
“We hope some of these days resonate with you and get you excited for the most wonderful time of the year!”
The show will take place tonight Friday December 18 at 6 p.m. and tomorrow Saturday December 19 at 2:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. at Reading College in King’s Road.
Tickets are £ 5 for adults and £ 3 for children at the box office on 0118 955 4757 or [email protected]
