The Cumbernauld Musical Theater Society will return to the new venue for the second time this year, following a sold-out staging of ‘Sunshine on Leith’ in May.
And the show they’re currently honing to perfection while rehearsing like crazy is “The Secret Garden” with its 23 cast.
It is closely based on the novel by Frances Hodgson Burnett and focuses on 11-year-old Mary Lennox, who returns to Yorkshire to live with her embittered and reclusive uncle Archibald and disabled son Colin, but manages to find inspiration magic in his new environment. .
It will be choreographed by Kirsten Stewart and will have Ronan Corkey as musical director.
The show will be directed by Fraser Morrison who said: “It is truly an honor and a privilege to once again lead the Cumbernauld Musical Theater Society.
“Having the opportunity to bring this classic story to life while working with a wonderful cast of local talent has been a fantastic experience so far. Coming back to perform at Cumbernauld in May was such a special experience and truly felt like a festive return home with a standing ovation every evening!
“We are proud to be at the heart of the Cumbernauld theater community and encourage anyone who has never seen this show before to come and be taken on a wonderful journey of love, loss and renewal as these classic characters from youth literature magically come to life on stage.
“A theater like this would not survive without the support of the local community, and so we hope you can join us for this spectacular production in October and make this type of theatrical experience available to those who will enjoy them for years to come.” Tickets are available for purchase now, direct from the Cumbernauld Theater website; https://lanternhousearts.org/events/the-secret-garden/
