In addition to gossiping about science, the characters of The Big Bang Theory likes to have a good time. They do this in a number of ways, including going to date nights, visiting theme parks, playing video games, and throwing parties. They also make it a point to celebrate each other’s birthdays from time to time.

When it comes to birthday celebrations, the show has been skewed in favor of certain characters. Sheldon and Amy had the most birthday parties while Penny, Raj, Howard and Bernadette had none. Nevertheless, each celebration was either brilliant or dramatic, thus spicing up the proceedings.

seven “The Acceleration of Intimacy” (S8E16)

This is the first time that Sheldon has celebrated his birthday. Initially, all of his friends have no idea it’s his birthday and he prefers it to stay that way. When they find out, they throw a party for him, but he is unimpressed.

The episode ranks lowest because there is no jovial vibe or major form of cheerfulness. Sheldon has no intention of celebrating and even ruining the joy by stating how awesome it would be for someone to die on their birthday. “Accelerating Intimacy” is also marred by the many blunders surrounding Sheldon’s birthday details. For example. Amy claims not to know Sheldon’s birthday, but she was seen going through his Caltech employee profile in Season 6. His birthday must have been listed in the profile. Penny also states that Sheldon is a Pisces but in Season 1 she had stated that he was a Taurus.

6 “Opening Night Excitement” (S9E11)

Amy’s birthday falls on the same day as the premiere of Star Wars: The Force Awakens (December 17), and Sheldon doesn’t know which one to prioritize. He ultimately chooses Amy’s birthday and then offers her privacy as a special gift.

It’s a special birthday because there are no crazy celebrations. After breaking up for a while, the two want something low key. There’s also the hint that they think the same way since Sheldon had secretly planned to give Amy privacy as a birthday present and she was expecting the same. And aside from celebrating a birthday, the private celebration can also be considered one of Sheldon and Amy’s best nights out.

5 “The Determination of Commitment” (S8E24)

the big bang theory

Because he ate everyone’s food and misbehaved, the gang plan to kick Stuart out of the apartment. But when they sit him down, they give him a cupcake and blow out candles for his birthday.

While it’s not one of the biggest twists in The Big Bang Theory, the gang choosing to surprise Stuart with a mini-party instead of kicking him out is what makes the episode golden. Once again, they confirm that they all have good hearts and can never willingly give up on anyone they know. After all, Stuart has long helped satisfy their appetite for comic books. Sadly, it’s never quite clear if they ultimately kicked him out or not.

4 “The Peanut Reaction” (S1E16)

Sheldon tells a customer how to get the best birthday present in The Big Bang Theory

Penny finds out that Leonard has never thrown a birthday party in his life, so she decides to throw him one. Unfortunately, Howard and Leonard end up arriving too late for the party, as Howard’s attempt to get Leonard out of the apartment backfires badly.

Leonard’s complicated relationship with his mother is highlighted in the episode. In one of the weirdest reasons for avoiding birthday parties, it was revealed that his mother told them that only special achievements were to be celebrated, and being born wasn’t one of them. Sheldon is also establishing himself as an expert in birthday gifts. As he explains the pros and cons of buying a router at the store, everyone is so impressed that they come to him for advice.

3 “The Anniversary Synchronicity” (s10E11)

It’s Amy’s birthday but Sheldon is mad at her because she went to a Harry Potter Wizard World theme park without him. However, things get happier when Bernadette and Howard’s baby is born on the same day.

For the most part, “The Birthday Synchronicity” highlights Amy and Sheldon’s rocking relationship. He is portrayed as the unreasonable as he gets angry over trivial things. Amy, on the other hand, is understanding as she arranges another visit to the park so Sheldon can be happy, but she’s the one who’s supposed to get a treat. The birth of Bernadette and Howard’s baby on the same day is a heartwarming moment.

2 “The Reverberation of Celebration” (S11E11)

Howard apologizes to Raj for not inviting him to his daughter's birthday party in The Big Bang Theory

Halley’s birthday falls on the same day that Amy and her friends figure out how to celebrate the two. Howard refuses to invite Raj to the party, despite being Halley’s godfather, causing friction between the two.

Although he’s not the birthday person, Raj ends up being the star of the episode. He demonstrates his selflessness by getting the house ready for the party even though Howard didn’t invite him. He does this out of love for Hailey, something that touches Howard’s heart and makes him apologize. Having celebrated many birthdays before, Amy keeps a low profile for most of the episode.

1 “The Celebration Experiment” (S9E17)

The experience of celebration

As usual, Sheldon tries to resist when the gang throws him a birthday party. He claims he hates birthday ever since he was tricked into thinking Batman would show up when he was young. His friends arrange for legendary Batman TV actor Adam West to show up. Stephen Hawking can also sing him a birthday song.

Besides having some of the greatest celebrity cameos of The Big Bang Theory, “The Celebration Experimentation” is revitalizing because birthday presents are replaced with thoughtful words. Instead of getting something special for Sheldon, each of his friends can say something they love the most about him. And for once, Sheldon is enjoying a birthday party.
