Musical theater company Worksop ‘overwhelmed’ by positive response after Made in Dagenham show

The Worksop Light Operatic Society performed the heartwarming production of Made in Dagenham at the Acorn Theater May 18-21.

Made in Dagenham is based on the 1968 Ford car workers’ strike, in which female staff sewing seat covers went on strike for the same pay as the men.

Leading Lady Rita was played by Sarah Ilett, who performed alongside her two young children on stage.

The Worksop Light Operatic Society performed Made in Dagenham at the Acorn Theatre. Councilor Tony Eaton met the cast during his last official engagement as Mayor of Worksop.

A company spokesperson said: “We were overwhelmed by the fantastic response and feedback from our audience, with standing ovations at every performance.

“The feedback we’ve received has been so moving and heartfelt that we couldn’t have asked for a better audience.”

Audience comments said the “refined” show was “fabulous from start to finish” and filled with “such professionalism and talent”.

An audience member said, “What an amazing cast and band – it seems like everyone put their heart and soul into this show. So professional; made me so proud.

The company will then take the stage in November to present Nativity the Musical.
