Musical theater back in Revelstoke after two-year hiatus – Revelstoke Review

Two years ago, Flying Arrow Productions brought community musicals back to Revelstoke with their production of Shrek the Musical.

Now they are bringing community musical theater back to the community once again with their upcoming production of Mama Mia.

This production will take place outdoors, a first in Revelstoke according to Anita Hallewas, artistic director at Flying Arrow Productions.

Auditions for their next production take place at the Sandman Hotel on Saturday, February 19.

According to Hallewas, everyone is welcome to audition for the cross-generational cast of their upcoming production. Hallewas said you don’t need experience to audition, just enthusiasm.

The auditions will take place in the Monashee Banquet Hall of the Sandman Hotel. Those interested in auditioning must complete an audition form and book an audition in advance.

Much of the production team at Flying Arrow Productions is made up of local volunteers who have been helping Revelstoke theater for decades.

Hallewas expects a final cast of around 50 people, a mix of children and adults due to the nature of the production.

“We try to be very inclusive,” Hallewas said. The cast of their latest production, Shrek the Musical, included 15 children and 35 adults, and they expect a similar ratio this time around.

“Anyone in the community can participate, not just people who have the resources to do so,” said Anita Hallewas, artistic director of Flying Arrow Productions.

In addition to actors, the production is also looking for volunteers to help out behind the scenes. No previous experience is necessary, and they offer training for those willing to help.

A date has yet to be set for production, but according to Hallewas, they expect it to be between June 23 and July 1, with a possibility that the performance will be part of Canada Day celebrations. in Revelstoke.
