The London-based musical theater company is back with another virtual production, this time as a tribute to the Halloween season, A Killer Party: A Murder Mystery Musical, directed by Andrew Dodd with musical direction by William Li.

“It’s such a surprise,” producer Laura Curiale said of the end of the series.

“I was wrong. The first time I watched the show, I was really trying to figure out who it was all the time, but I didn’t see that ending coming.

The show, which runs from Thursday to Sunday, tells the story of the maid Justin Case, who gets his big chance by solving “the (un) expected murder of the artistic director of the theater Varthur McArthur”. Solve the case and Case gets a promotion. Along the way, there are secret affairs, lifelong grudges, and behind-the-scenes drama accentuated by song and dance.

Curiale said the show was written for the whole family.

Featuring a book by Emmy-winning writer Rachel Axler (The Daily Show) and Kait Karrigan (The Woman Upstairs) and featuring songs by Nathan Tysen (Tuck Everlasting) and Grammy Award-winning Jason Howland (Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, Little Women), A Killer Party was written as a virtual production during the pandemic.

All 14 cast and crew at the company filmed the musical remotely from their homes, much like their 2020 hit show, Quarantine Story.

“The actors went above and beyond their artistic talent and easily adapted to artistic creation in this new medium. It has been an absolute pleasure to collaborate with other hard working people in a time like this. Said music director Li.
