Latiné Musical Theater Lab will present 11 new musicals in its first-ever series of readings

The organization aims to elevate the work of Latin theater artists.

The Latina Musical Theater Lab will present 11 readings of new musicals written by Latin-identified writers through its first-ever series of tabletop readings. Invitation-only readings will be presented from June 19 to September 25.

The organization provides a free space for writers to write their works with the aim of elevating the work of Latin creatives and providing resources to promote equal opportunity.

The 11 shows presented are an untitled show by Michael Mott and Gretchen Suárez-Peña; Quillenwith music by Pablo Concha and book and lyrics by Jamie Buxton; Unrecognizedwith book, music and lyrics by K. Hernandez Friend and additional music and lyrics by Leigh Cara; Sangre de mi Padre / Lágrimas de mi Madre (Blood of my father / Tears of my mother)by David Allen Carrasco with musical composition by Rebecca Salinas; Handbook against the Statue of Liberty with a book by Noemi de la Puente, music by David Davila and lyrics by Davila and de la Puente; Lady Alhambra: a play with song and dance by Gabriela Castillo-Miranda; #Masc4Masc: an all-male musical with book and lyrics by James Martinez Salem and music by Josh Ben-Ami; Vanishing Girl: a new musical with a book by Hope Villanueva, music and lyrics by William Yanesh and direction by Eric Jordan Young; Ybor City the Musical with a book by Anita Gonzalez and music and lyrics by Dan Furman; Tuesday with music by Brett Macias and lyrics by Caroline Murphy; and boys and nuns with additional book and lyrics by Sandra Delgado and music and lyrics by Michael McBride.

The series is made possible through a space donation by Jen Waldman Studios.
