Kildare Nationalist – Newbridge Musical Theater is looking for actors for its Evita production


Rehearsals for Evita are underway, but it’s not too late to join

Newbridge Musical Theater is looking for new cast members to join the cast of its upcoming production of Evita, Andrew Lloyd-Webber’s iconic musical, which will run from 18and at 23rd April this year at the Newbridge College Theatre.

The group, formerly known as Newbridge Musical Society, held their first rehearsal for the show this week and are encouraging those interested in performing to join their cast. Rehearsals are at 8.00pm on Monday and Tuesday evenings at Scoil Mhuire Junior School on Standhouse Road, Newbridge.

Evita will be the 40th of the Newbridge Musical Theaterand production, and its first production since 2019’s award-winning Urinetown: The Musical, with a planned production of West Side Story in 2020 scrapped following the Covid-19 outbreak. The band did, however, return to the stage last November as they held two sold-out nights of their ‘Music of the Night’ concert, a celebration of the music of Andrew Lloyd-Webber, at the Riverbank Arts Center in Newbridge.

Casting for the lead roles took place late last year and the show will feature Orla Williams as Eva Perón, Cormac Malone as Che, Conor Kilduff as Juan Perón, Daniel Ryan as Agustin Magaldi and Clodagh Donnelly as the mistress of Perón. Clodagh Donnelly will also be doubling for the role of Eva, while Hannah Ryan, Adam Trundle and Gearóid McGauran will be doubling for Mistress of Péron, Che and Perón respectively.
