Jessica Westcott, Opera singer from Parkes, presents in a musical theater workshop in Orange | Champion-Post Parkes


Former Parkes wife and opera singer Jessica Westcott will attend the UpStage NSW musical theater workshop coming to Orange.

The workshop is presented by UpStage and the Orange Regional Conservatory (ORC) on Sunday June 27 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

COVID-Safe measures will apply.

Built with the aim of bringing a high quality music, dance and drama education to the Midwest, UpStage is a high quality, fun and engaging day that will inspire and empower your young performers.

Sessions will include performance skills, voice, drama, dance and theater business.

Young performers (ages 8-14) will develop their confidence in age-appropriate, fun and collaborative performance lessons, while older performers (15-18) will participate in tailored small-group sessions focused on building a career as a performing artist.

All participants will be able to create a group performance for parents that highlights the learning they have done throughout the day.

Jessica Westcott de Parkes is an opera singer, theater producer and choir director.

She is currently Associate Producer at Hayes Theater Co, Regular Performer with Opera Australia and Principal Conductor (NSW) of the Australian Girls Choir.

She has a lifelong interest in improving arts education for the NSW area.

Other faculty members include Callan Purcell, Natalie Abbott, Stefanie Jones, Brittanie Shipway, Billie Palin, Christen Patinyotis, Deepka Ratra, and Estevan (Steve) Martin.

Callan Purcell (Voice, The Business of Theater) is currently appearing in the Australian premiere of Hamilton The Musical (as Alexander Hamilton).

He was educated at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, Bachelor of Arts (Hons) and has also appeared in Woof in Hair (Peace Productions); Slippery to Bran Nue Dae (Opera Australia).

Limited places are available at the workshop.

This year, observer tickets are also available for $ 15.

Observer tickets give parents, family members or friends of participants the opportunity to attend selected classes.
