“Students began rehearsing in March this year and the show marks the Academy of Musical Theater‘s first full-scale production. Legally Blonde Jr tells the story of Elle Woods, a smart young student who, after having followed her ex-boyfriend to Harvard Law School, must overcome the stereotypes imposed on her to prove that she is more than just a blonde fashionista.

“The students worked hard to prepare for the show and in addition to attending rehearsals, the students were fortunate to be visited by two inspiring women in law: Horsham Family Court Circuit Judge Helen Lusty and Jeanette Newman, a partner solicitor at Ince, a large London law firm. The actors also had the opportunity to travel to the West End to see Come From Away at the Phoenix Theater and attend the screening of the 2001 film Legally Blonde in Millais.

“Students were involved in all aspects of the production, from painting the set and facade to managing the lighting and sound management. They were invaluable in the rehearsal, technical and production aspects of the show. The production team, made up of music and theater teachers from Millais, was amazed by the professionalism and enthusiasm of the actors. We are incredibly lucky to have such talented and committed students ready to perform here at Millais and we can’t wait to see them on stage. Join us for an exhilarating, dynamic and high-quality production with our incredible cast of 70 young performers. All funds raised through the show go directly to funding future productions of the Academy of Musical Theater. There are already plans in the works for something even bigger in 2023!
