The stars lined up for the first big night of Art Basel parties on Tuesday.
While plenty of events took place in South Beach and the fashionable Design District, top merchant Larry Gagosian hosted dinner at Mr Chow at W South Beach, attended by Owen Wilson, Alex Rodriguez , art dealer Adam Lindemann, New York Giants co-owner Steve Tisch, top collectors Tico Mugrabi and Aby Rosen, philanthropist and investor Nicolas Berggruen and China Chow.
At the Thompson Miami Beach, Interview Magazine and DSquared2’s Dean and Dan Caten hosted a private dinner followed by a packed party celebrating Performa’s 10th anniversary, where guests included model Karolina Kurkova, Paris Hilton, Interview Chairman Peter Brant, David Arquette , Lance Bass, Leigh Lezark and James Goldstein.
Meanwhile, Miami Heat’s Dwyane Wade hosted the Haute Living and The Webster party to celebrate the launch of his sneaker collaboration with designers Alejandro Ingelmo and Li-Ning. Wade made a spectacular entrance with Inglemo on a yacht, then mingled with a crowd that included heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis, the Heat’s Udonis Haslem, DJ Khaled, Jonathan Cheban and the project’s architect, Italian designer Piero Lissoni.
The evening ended at the Wall nightclub for the party of celebrity favorite entertainer Mr Brainwash. Leonardo DiCaprio held court with close friends Tobey Maguire and Lucas Haas, Hilton was spotted in the DJ booth getting ready for her Wall title on Friday, A Rod popped champagne with friends and Zoe Kravitz chatted with Joe Jonas, while Brandon Davis, Arquette and newly slim rapper Rick Ross were all spotted.
