A series of spectacular installations have taken over a decrepit mansion in Queens Park in Kolkata, transforming the spaces inside (and a few outside) into haunting, atmospheric arenas of memory and madness.

SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah Shakespeare Festival has gotten a little more British.

The Cedar City-based organization recently announced a five-year partnership with the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) in London, a prestigious school that has produced actors like Anthony Hopkins, Alan Rickman, Cynthia Erivo and Kenneth Branagh.

Getting that caliber of talent in Utah is “part of the fun of partnering,” said Brian Vaughn, artistic director of the festival.

“You never know who is really going to strike and become the next knight,” Vaughn said with a laugh. “We’re hiring players from some really amazing training programs here in the US. Adding in recent RADA students or graduates just helps the level of talent we bring to the stage.”

Throughout the partnership, which takes effect immediately, the Utah Shakespeare Festival will travel to London each year to conduct auditions with students from RADA. The festival is committed to hiring at least one RADA student or graduate from its acting company for each year of the partnership, which runs until December 31, 2024.

Amazing is how Dannemora resident Ethan Korewha describes the moment he learned he had been cast to star in the latest National Youth Theater Company (NYTC) production. The Wizard of Oz, opening on Friday November 29.

The 21-year-old is delighted to play the wizard.

“It’s an absolute privilege,” he says as part of the enchanting musical from the all-time classic storyline of MGM which is celebrating its 80th anniversary this year.

“I had auditioned for the Tinman, but then decided to try out the lead role. I didn’t expect to play the character of Wizard and Professor Marvel in two of the series. I love being a part of the theater so much that I would be happy even if I entered the choir, ”he says.

Ethan, who has been associated with the NYTC since the age of 14, has performed in 17 shows to date with the NYTC. These include a variety of roles in the classics, including Annie, Cats, Shrek, Olivier, Peter Pan, Shrek, Aladdin and Pinocchio.

It didn’t take long for Ethan to realize that if you want to be a part of the cast of NYTC’s two productions a year, you’ve got to be quick.

Until recently, it took three minutes for registrations to fill up. The last time he was half an hour late to express his interest in the Cats production, he found himself on a long waiting list.

The Wizard of Oz is the 30th production of the NYTC. The charitable trust has worked since 2004 to bring confidence and life skills to young people through the dramatic arts.

Ethan is especially proud to have won a scholarship in 2015 for his role in Seussical.

Twice a year, the NYTC team selects two people to receive the scholarship. To qualify, they must show dedication, talent and clear and marked improvement.

The Wizard of Oz has a cast of 320 children including 240 on stage.

For Ethan, who also works part-time as a comedian, this will be his penultimate show, the last being The little Mermaid where his younger brother Ricco will be on stage for the first time.

The home-schooled 21-year-old knows he will have to leave the NYTC once he’s 22 and hopes to continue to be associated with it.

Vietnam Tuong Theater celebrates its 60th anniversary with an exhibition titled Behind The Mask to raise awareness among locals and introduce foreign tourists to the art of Tuong, a traditional feature of Vietnamese culture that is gradually losing its popularity in modern society.

The art of elaborate face makeup is one of the most remarkable and characteristic features of Tuong, but the exhibition invites the public to look beyond colors and lines to find other distinctive aspects of performing art which has a history of around 800 years.

The Vietnam Tuong Theater has made a significant contribution to the preservation and maintenance of this traditional Vietnamese art form.

The exhibition has four main screens. On the ground floor, the history room offers a brief introduction to the long history of Tuong, including the “founding fathers” of the art form and ancient scripts written in Last name characters.

See as many live performances as you can, as well as TV and movies. If you’re auditioning for our BA (Hons) in Performing, don’t feel pressured to stand out from the crowd with an obscure speech or an unusual cast – pick something that feels authentic to you, that you are passionate about, and that you can imagine playing a day. We are looking for auditiones to transport us to their own reality and make us believe in the truth of the person they are playing. Students should also be able to commit to working in groups and to being generous, open and receptive to direction.

We have no set requirements for candidate experience – we are looking for potential and the creative and practical ability to undertake university-level training. Before you apply and audition, do some research on the type of training that different schools offer. It always helps to see and read as much theater and movies as possible, and think about your favorite actors – what makes their performances so enjoyable, moving, or intriguing.
