August 13, 14: Morrow ‘Moana Jr.’ Musical Theater Camp to raise funds for Ida Storm Relief

MAPLEWOOD, NJ (August 6, 2022) – Families of all ages can board the summer production of Moana, Jr. at Morrow Memorial Church (600 Ridgewood Rd., Maplewood). A cast of children will take the stage for three performances: Saturday August 13 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. and Sunday August 14 at 2 p.m. Tickets are available online ( or at select stores including Words Bookstore (179 Maplewood Ave.), MOD Studio (7 Highland Pl.), and General Store Cooperative (1875 Springfield Ave. ) at Maplewood and Sparkhouse Toys (9 Village Plaza), Kitchen a la Mode (19 S Orange Ave.) and Sadies (65 Valley St.) in South Orange. A $15 donation is suggested with proceeds going to the Ida Road to Renewal Fund.

Morrow Musical Theater Camp (MMTC) is a week-long experience for children entering grades 4-8 in partnership with Miss Shona’s Performing Arts Center. MMTC taps into children’s desire to “put on a show” as well as their urge to help others and combines this with learning the art of musical theater and fundraising.

This year, students are raising money for The United Methodist Church of Greater Jersey’s (GNJ) Ida Road to Renewal Fund (, which helps residents who are still trying to recover from storm damage.

“Although a lot of the damage is less visible than it was during Sandy, the impact [is] serious, especially for marginalized communities that have already been impacted by the pandemic or serve people who rent rather than own,” the fund’s website reads. “What they’re getting from insurance or state or federal assistance is way below what they need to recover.”
