An art-filled Delhi home nestled amidst a fairytale garden

The path to Kalra House in Chattarpur passes through a lush garden fragrant with flowers and alive with the chirping of birds. A serene body of water reflects the summer sky. This Delhi home is a contemporary sanctuary amidst the hustle and bustle of the city, spread over 7,000 square feet and designed by the Kalras who are themselves architects.

A handcrafted wooden door creates a grand first impression in the entry hall of this Delhi home.

The disposition

The journey through this Delhi home begins on the ground floor where the living room (the featured image) takes center stage with red onyx flooring and striking artwork that gives it a wonderful sense of sophistication. It might seem quite grand at first glance, but there’s also friendliness, mainly thanks to the bespoke furniture designed by Punam Kalra, creative director of the I’m Center for Applied Arts. The curved edges of the accent chairs and the flowing lines of the lime green sofa evoke an understated elegance. Gigantic canvases also help create the perfect blend of luxurious aesthetic design and comfortable living space.

The family room where members of the household gather and relax.
