Alamo Marble Artwork | Home + Design

This Alamo home strikes a harmonious and unexpected balance between traditional and modern, giving the home a warm and relaxed feel.

In this kitchen remodel, the homeowner wanted his kitchen to mirror the rest of the style of the house, while maximizing functionality. With the kitchen and family room sharing the same space, it made sense to add a kitchen island with seating for a less formal dining experience. Calacatta Vagli marble, a milky white marble with gray and taupe inclusions, was used to exude luxury and timeless elegance. A three-inch cascading island edge showcased the dramatic veining of the marble, a work of art in itself, creating a visually appealing focal point for the room.

A matching custom marble cladding was installed over the range hood, as the owner was not a fan of traditional stainless steel. Calacatta Vagli marble also formed the backsplash, adding continuity to the new kitchen design. The honed finish of the marble gave a clean matte look and will be easier to maintain when acidic foods come in contact with the surface, known as etching, which causes dull spots to appear on the material.

Combining a balance of elements from traditional and modern styles, the space now has a classic and fresh feel. With updated appliances, reworked counter space, counter seating, and family room adjacency, the kitchen has become the place to be in this home.
